Love socialism?

    05 October 2020

Shortly before the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution, the radical anti-communist organization Memorial Fund for the Victims of Communism conducted a survey of Americans from 16 to 30 years old. The result amazed the organizers themselves: 44% of the respondents would like to live under socialism and only 42% preferred capitalism. Another 7% of the participants chose communism. That is, 51% of young Americans share the socialist ideal, versus 42% who are closer to the values of capitalism.

What is the reason for this phenomenon? Young people (in all the so-called capitalist countries) are losing ground under their feet, a life perspective. They learn something - and find no use for themselves. And it's not even unemployment - it's different. Clear and predestined paths of life disappear. Hence the demand for clarity, intelligibility, predictability, which is associated in the mind with socialism. More and more young people reject the "rat race" for elusive success, preferring a simpler and more spiritually advanced life.

Socialism and planning have another undeniable value. They give no less - the purpose of life. When there is an image of the result, the image of the country in 10-20-50-100 years, this gives a perspective, a living space for a small human life. After all, a person by himself is small and insignificant, but participation in a large and important matter makes him big and strong. Increasing consumption will not help here.
