Overview of the labor movement in the second half of September 2019
Protest rally of workers in the Perm region
In the second half of September 2019, employees of an engineering plant located in the city of Aleksandrovsk went on strike for more than a week.
The reason for the strike was a delay in the issuance of the earnings laid by the worker.
- At the moment, most of the factory workers are on strike. We now have a strike every time. People are already home for half a month, because they don’t pay money. They give in parts, a little bit, two thousand each, the workers said on September 27, during the strike.
According to local residents, the money is delayed for a second month.
This is not the first strike this year. A similar action took place in the summer.
The Alexander Machine Plant has been more than two hundred years old. Now the company produces mining equipment, in particular, belt conveyors.

On September 19, a workers' strike took place on the territory of the construction of the railway line of the sea coal port in the area of Sukhodol Bay. People demanded their wages. There was not a day for workers to be paid on time.
In Sukhodol Bay, Shkotovsky District, Primorsky Territory, it is planned to build a new coal port capable of transporting 18 million tons of coal per year.

Rally in Yakutsk
On September 18, a protest rally of the staff of the Yakutkurort enterprise was held in the Yuri Gagarin public garden.
The protesters demanded the repayment of wage arrears and clarification of the fate of the sanatorium, which faces bankruptcy. Workers were waiting for the director of the organization, but the meeting did not take place.

Underground strike of Georgian miners
On September 24, a protest rally was organized in the city of Tkibuli. Salary debts and the lack of certainty in the future work of a number of coal mining operations caused an underground strike by local miners.
On September 24, over 30 workers from two mines went underground and refused to rise until salaries were issued and the workers were fully informed in connection with the prospect of the restoration of the coal mining process.
The earned funds should have been credited to the miners account on September 15, but people never received it. Moreover, the owners of the mines did not want to name the terms for paying off wage arrears.
Because of this, miners are deprived of the opportunity to make bank and utility payments, which further worsens their social situation - they are fined daily due to delays in mandatory payments.

Abroad
The mass strike of workers in the United States
On September 16, 2019, more than 30 car factories were idle due to a general strike. The protest was the largest in the last 12 years. On the eve of the strike, the overwhelming majority of workers, more than 46 thousand people, voted for collective action. The total number of strikers reached 50 thousand. During the protest, 33 manufacturing facilities were closed in 9 US states and 22 distribution warehouses.
Workers insist on concluding a fair collective agreement for more than 158 thousand employees for the next four years. Among the basic requirements are an increase in wages, the provision of guarantees of greater employment and benefits. The union also opposed the closure of four plants in the United States, which the corporation intends to implement.

New Yellow Vests Protests in France
On September 21, demonstrations and rallies against the president and the government were again held in the country.
Previously, the police implemented a number of measures in order to reduce the wave of protests. More than 596 thousand preliminary “checks” of potential demonstrators were conducted. Mostly the detentions were carried out in the area of Paris train stations. However, this did not help the authorities much.
On September 21, in the area of Madeleine Square in the French capital, another uncoordinated protest rally by supporters of the Yellow Vests movement began.
The police began to squeeze people from the square in the direction of the station of Saint-Lazare. The protesters entered into verbal skirmishes with the "law enforcement officers", who, in turn, used tear gas several times to disperse the protesters.

Unlimited protest in Poland
On September 17, paramedics took to the streets of many cities. They announced an unlimited protest rally under the slogan "This is a sick country!"
Health workers demanded an increase in health care costs and the introduction of the maximum allowable waiting time for medical care. According to trade union leaders, the current system in the country kills 30 thousand patients a year, and the improper organization of labor and staff shortages lead to overwork and physical exhaustion of people in white coats. In recent years, in Poland, there are many cases of death of doctors right on duty.
